Skywatch Friday: Chimes, Icicles and Blue Skies

Fairfield Glade, Tennessee. February 18, 2010.

This is my post for Skywatch Friday, a meme for sharing views of the sky from all over the world.  To see more, or to join and share your own photos of the sky, click HERE.

We had blue skies and sunshine on Thursday — we hardly knew what to do.  Even more amazing was the fact that the temperature got above freezing for the first time in about 10 days.

The result of all that warmth and sunshine was this giant icicle engulfing a wind chime on the south-east corner of our house.  I don’t know which impressed more — the blue sky or the icicle.  By the end of the day the snow on the roof of our neighbor’s house was gone, but much of the icicle was still there.

That is one big icicle! It looks so pretty against the blue sky. Our temperature made it to 40! If this keeps up all this snow will be gone soon!!!

the blue sky is very beautiful but the ice looks very thick.
I hope the ice melts gradually so you won’t have a great swoosh of water—like before. MB

Well, as you know, I love icicle pics, so this is great. For some reason, i think It’s funny, But what a great photo it makes. The sky is for sure extremly bright behind it. I don’t know which I like better, either. Perhaps the chimes.
