Watery Wednesday #149: Mill Creek Falls

Mill Creek Falls, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Tennessee. May 23, 2011.

This is my post for Watery Wednesday.  To see more of our beautiful watery world, or to join and post your own pictures to share, click HERE.

I’ve posted before that Betsy and I took a back-country road, Parson Branch Road, through the Smokies a couple of months ago.  We enjoy the scenery off the beaten path, and we enjoy the fact that we often come across some unexpected waterfalls.

We found the pretty little waterfall above shortly after leaving Cade Cove Loop Road.  I almost drove right past it, but I saw it out of the corner of my eye and backed up to a pull-over so we could get out and enjoy our discovery.

I have often said, you’re pics could be “postcards” or maybe even in a book….This one is stunning! I can hear the water now 🙂

    Beautiful shot George!

You cannot imagine how inviting this place is….it is so hot and muggy here. I would be wading if I were in that photo.

So pretty and NOT scary, I would love this one. Looks like there would be no place to sit or picnic, though! As soon as i saw this picture, my computer fan turned on, and it sounds just like the rushing waters of this little waterfall! i was startled for a minute!

it looks cool and wet and that is what we need now. HOT weather is here and this spot would be a welcome relief.

Sometimes the ones you stumble upon are the biggest treats. We also like to travel off the beaten path.

I don’t think I’ve seen one that is low like this. I think I prefer this kind to the tall ones.

  14. Neal Says:

That sure looks refreshing…especially with the temperatures here around 100!

I don’t know if ya’ll ever take dips in the waterfalls you visit, but today would be the day to do that very thing & that looks like the perfect place, too, out of the sun on a scorching HOT day! The heat index is already 102… just after 10am. =0

  16. Kathy Says:

George, what a perfect day to be viewing this! It certainly looks inviting and refreshing!!
