Monday Betsy and I went to Asheville, North Carolina, to the Biltmore Estate.  We went primarily to visit the Conservatory — something we do a couple of times each year — and to do some walking around the estate.

As we were walking through one of the gardens back to the car, we spotted this daffodil in bloom under a tree.  Some of our daffodils are up, but they are a long way from blooming.  It was a surprise to find this one in bloom.

As I mentioned, Betsy and I went to enjoy the flowers in the Conservatory.  We spent quite a bit of time in the Orchid Room, enjoying beautiful blossoms like the one above.

That seems mighty early for that Daffodil to be blooming.

Ah, the first flowers of spring are such welcome sights, even though some of them will suffer later for making that early appearance. Beautiful photos of both flowers.

Our Daffs are poking up too but way too early to reach bloom size. Aren’t they pretty though. It makes one realize that Spring will come again. MB

It’s been years since we’ve been there but I remember all the beautiful flowers they had. Our daffodils are up also…one or two has a bud like they are going to bloom. I think they are confused. 🙂

And the furnace went out in the night, so I am wearing two of everything, waiting for the repairman…

George, I had the same thought about going to the city botanical gardens to soak up some colour from exotic plants in a warm environment! However, the photo of the little daffodil in bloom is a lovely sight. At the moment we have a few snowdrops in our garden. Maybe we will get to the glasshouse in the botanical gardens this weekend?? Hope yours in a good one.
